What we repair
We repair most things that go wrong with a residential pool. If you are not sure what is wrong, describe the symptom and we will help work out what is behind it. Text photos or a short video to (689) 225-1200 and we reply within 1 business day.
- Pumps and motors: noisy, losing prime, tripping breakers or not moving enough water.
- Filters: cartridge, sand or DE filters with high pressure, weak flow or damaged parts.
- Heaters and heat pumps: not heating, error codes, scale buildup or failed components.
- Salt cells and chlorinators: low output, scale on the cell or control board faults. See also pool equipment.
- Lights: dim, flickering or dead pool and spa lights, plus water inside a fixture.
- Leaks: water loss in the shell, plumbing or equipment. See pool leak detection.
- Cracks: surface cracks and structural cracks in the shell.
- Loose tile and coping: pieces that have lifted or fallen. See pool tile and coping.
- Plumbing: broken lines, failed valves and fittings, and return or suction problems.
Signs you have a problem
Small problems are cheaper to fix than big ones, and most give you a warning first. A weak return flow, a rising pressure gauge or a green tint right after you shocked the pool are all worth a call.
Most pool problems announce themselves early if you know what to look for. Catching them while they are small usually saves a larger repair later.
Watch for water that drops faster than normal evaporation, a pump that sounds different, air bubbles in the returns, cloudy water that will not clear, a heater that cycles on and off, lights that flicker, and wet spots in the yard near the equipment. In Florida, summer heat evaporates a lot of water, so a quick test with a bucket marked at the water line helps separate evaporation from a real leak.
Leaks and cracks
A leak can be in the shell, the plumbing, a fitting, a skimmer or the equipment. Finding it is the hard part, and guessing leads to wasted repairs. We use a step-by-step approach, and for stubborn cases we pair repair with leak detection.
Cracks are not all the same. A hairline surface crack in the finish is cosmetic and often easy to fix. A structural crack in the shell needs proper evaluation. In Florida, shifting sandy soil, a high water table and hydrostatic pressure from groundwater can all stress a pool, so the cause matters as much as the patch.
Equipment, hard water and Florida wear
Florida pool equipment works hard. Long swim seasons, heat, humidity, lightning and storm power surges all shorten life. Hard water leaves calcium scale on heaters, salt cells and tile, which cuts efficiency and causes failures. Salt air along the coast corrodes fittings and metal parts faster.
Sometimes a repair makes sense, and sometimes replacing the part saves money over time. We tell you which, and explain why. When it is time to upgrade, see pool features and upgrades for options like variable-speed pumps and automation.
Storms, hurricane season and emergencies
Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, and Florida pools take a beating from wind, debris and flooding. After a storm, do not run damaged equipment, and keep power off to anything that was underwater. Our hurricane prep for your pool guide covers what to do before and after a storm.
If a storm knocks out power, lifts a screen panel or fills the pool with debris, avoid draining it to fix the problem. High groundwater after heavy rain can push an empty pool out of the ground. Call us first and we will tell you what is safe to do.
If a repair involves a hidden problem underground, such as a broken buried line, it is not part of a fixed price. We explain what we found and what it changes before we continue.
